Obituary provided by Oelwein Area Genealogical Society: William F. Michaels, a former Oelwein native, died at his home in Albert Lea, Minnesota on Tuesday afternoon, 11 February 1975, age 70. Funeral services for William were held on Friday, 13 February, at 10 a.m. at Bonnerup and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Albert Lea. Burial was held at Fairbank Iowa Cemetery. William F. Michaels was born 23 April 1904, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gustaf Mickels of Oelwein. He lived in Waterloo and Charles City, Iowa and moved to Albert Lea in 1938. He married Thelma Fink on 14 September [1923] at Fairbank. He owned and operated an upholstery shop in Albert Lea. Survivors included his wife, a brother, George, of Oelwein; 2 sisters, Mrs. Albert (Eva) Neuman of Oelwein and Mrs. Robert (Elsie) Medaus of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Edward who died 17 January 1962.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Fairbanks, Iowa. The Rev. Ronald Jansen will officiate. Friends may call at the Bonnerup & Son Funeral Chapel. A native of Iowa, he was born April 23, 1904. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Michaels. He lived at Waterloo and Charles City before moving to Albert Lea in 1938. He was the owner and operator of Bill's Upholstery Shop. Mr. Michaels and Elm Fink were married at Fairbanks, Sept. 14, 1923. His immediate survivors are: his widow Selma; a brother George of Oelwein, two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Eva) Newman and Mrs. Elsie Medaus, both of Oelwein, and nieces and nephews
