Obituary provided by Oelwein Area Genealogical Society: Mrs. Martha Mickels, daughter of William and Augusta Meisner, died at 3 p.m. on 27 March 1951, age 74. She was survived by her 2 daughters, Mrs. Elsie Shepherd and Mrs. Albert (Eva) Neuman of Oelwein and 3 sons, George and Edward Mickels of Oelwein and William Mickels of Albert Lea, Minnesota, one granddaughter, 4 grandsons and one great granddaughter. Mrs. Mickels was born in Germany and came to America and Oelwein in 1900. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church followed by burial in block 12, lot 35 beside her husband.
