Charles Floyd Shepherd, 73, retired from the Army, died Sept. 25, 1996, at a local care facility. He also worked in civil service at Fort Carson. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 N. 31st St., Blunt Mortuary, 2929 W. Colorado Ave., is handling arrangements. Mr. Shepherd was born Jan. 27, 1923 in Oelwein, Iowa to Richard and Elsie (Mickles) Shepherd. He was married May 4, 1950 to Marie Swick, who lives in Colorado Springs. He also is survived by a son, Charles F. Jr. of Deland, Fla., a daughter Charlotte Powell of Rock Springs, Wyo,; a brother, Richard; a sister Lucille Zolczynski; and nine grandchildren. Mr. Shepherd served in the Army for 23 years during World War II and the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Carson. He was a former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 101. Memorial contributions may be made to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 N. 31st. St., Colorado Springs 80904; or Silver Key Senior Services, 2250 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs 80904.
His two children were adopted.
