Fred Henry Servatius

On the 1930 U. S. Census of Rockford, Winnebago Co., Illinois Fred Servatius appears with his wife Amelia and children Dorothea, Marguerite and George. Fred and Amelia were 24 when they married. They are now 54 years of age. That would put their marriage date at 1900. Fred is a machinist in the tool shop, both daughters are nurses in a hospital. George is a civil engineer. George states he is married but she is not listed in the household.
Obituary from Rockford Register Republic, January 28, 1946, Page 3: Fred Servatius. The funeral service for Fred Servatius, 70, of rural route No. 6, veteran of the Spanish-American war, will be conducted Tuesday. Dr. John Gordon, pastor of Second Congregational church will officiate at the service at 1:30 p.m. in the McAllister-Julian-Poorman funeral home, 304 North 5th street. Interment will be in Willwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight between 7 and 9 o'clock. Mr. Servatius died Saturday night in St. Anthony hospital a few hours after, he suffered a heart attack in the V.F. W. club rooms at 215 South Church street. resident of Rockford since he was nine years old, Mr. Servatius was born in Ohio on Aug. 20, 1875. He was a toolmaker and was last employed by McHugh brothers. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Dorthea Scott, with whom he made his home, and Mrs. Marguerite Yocom, Chicago; a son, George Servatius, Rockford; two grandchildren and a brother, Joe Servatius, Tampa, Fla. His wife, Amelia, died Feb. 3, 1940.
