Rockford Daily Register Gazette, Rockford, Illinois, January 14, 1918. Rockford Boy Dies in Service. Frank Servatius' Death at Fort Sam Houston is Reported to his father. Frank Servatius, a soldier in the regular army for ten years, died on Saturday at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, according to a telegram received by his father, Mathews Servatius, 501 Lincoln avenue. The message did not give the cause of death, but merely announced the passing of the soldier and asked what disposition it was desired should be made of the body. Mr. Servatius ordered the body sent to Rockford. Funeral services will take place here and Camp Grant officers will be asked to send a firing squad for the burial. Relatives of the soldier are inclined to think his death was due to accident or violent means. A letter from him which was received here six days ago said he was in excellent health. Frank was 36 years old. He was a member of the Fifty-seventh infantry.
