Singsaasboka Bind III page 108 "reiste til Amerika noen daggar etter die vart vigt."
Obituary from the Hendricks Pioneer:
Bereth Thoreson
The funeral for Mrs. Bereth Thoreson who died on the 10th was held from the home at one o'clock followed by services in the Hauges church, conducted by Rev. Ekse last Thursday (May 12th).
Mrs. Thoreson had been an invalid for more than three years as a result of paralysis and was cared for at the home of her son, Theodore N. Thoreson, 2-1/2 miles southeast of Hendricks. About ten years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, but recovered and enjoyed usual good health until three years ago last January, when she was again stricken. This, with other complications, and old age, hastened the end.
Mrs. Thoreson was a native of Norway, having been born in Singsaas, January 6, 1845, and was therefore 76 years, 4 months and 4 days.
She was married to Nels Thoreson in the homeland and they came to America in 1869, first settling on land near what was then known as Waterloo Ridge, Iowa. Living there seven years, they came to this community in 1876 and took up as a homestead the farm where they both passed on, and which is now conducted by the son, Theodore. Mr.Thoreson died in 1890 (incorrect - he died in 1900. BAJ)
Surviving are three sisters, three daughters, three sons, twenty-nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all residing here. The sisters are: Mesdames Esten Peterson, Ole Aune and Ed Sommervold; the daughters: Mesdames Lars Digre, M. T. Mathison and Christ Peterson. The sons: Theodore, Lars and Hans Thoreson. All the children were born here, with the exception of Mrs. Digre and Mrs. Mathison, who were born in Iowa.
