Mrs. Bereth Ronning Laid to Rest
Funeral services were conducted on October 11 for Mrs. Bereth Ronning, long time resident of the Hendricks community. A service at the Ronning home preceded the last rites in Calvary Lutheran church. Rev. M. A. Ericksen was in charge. At the home, Mrs. M. A. Ericksen sang a vocal solo, and at the church two duets were sung by Mrs. P.C. Hinsverk and Mrs. Teddy Mathison. Interment was in the East Cemetery. The pallbearers were Andrew Hexem, Oscar Hexem, Grant Johnson, Alfred Erickson, Elmer and Alvin Wright.
Bereth Ronning was born in Singsaas, Norway on January 31, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Esten Pederson. At the age of six years, she came to America with her parents, the family settling on a farm near Hendricks. On June 29, 1906, she was united in marriage to Nels H. Ronning. They were the parents of two children, Beulah, who passed away in infancy, and Eddie. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Ronning moved to the farm southwest of Hendricks and here Mrs. Ronning lived the rest of her lifetime.
Death came at the Hendricks Hospital on October 7, 1957, at the age of 79 years, eight months and eight days. She is survived by her son, Eddie, three grandchildren and one brother, Lars Digre. Mr. Ronning passed away in 1951.
