John Pederson was born in Singsaas, Norway, of the parents Esten and Anne Pederson on October 22, 1881. At the age of three years he came with his parents to this country. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed by Rev. T. K. Solensten on November 21, 1897.
Mr. Pederson spent his entire life on the farm of his parents east of Hendricks.
He was of a nervous type, due to the fact that his health was not the best. Last fall, he became seriously ill and has been confined to bed most of the time since. In spite of hospital and medical care, he did not recover, but passed away at the old home on Sunday evening, August 3, 1941, at the age of 59 years, ten months and thirteen days.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his old father, Esten Pederson; one sister, Mrs. Nils Ronning; two brothers, Lars Digre and Christ Pederson; one half brother, P. P. Sagmoe, Sr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, August 6, from the home at 1:30 and from the Lutheran Free church at two o’clock. Rev. M. A. Ericksen sang “Som sol Gaar med I Havet” at the home. The choir sang ”Her maa jeg banke bede” and ”Face to Face” at the church, and Miss Gaella Johnson and Miss Hilma Hindoien sang a duet, “Thus Jesus Can”. The pallbearers were Albert Sagmoe, P. P. Sagmoe, Jr., Nels Digre, Nels Pederson, Eddie Ronning, and Eddie Pederson. Burial was made in the East cemetery. Numerous memorial gifts were given by the family, relatives, and friends of the deceased.
