GOTLIEB AND BARBARA BRENIMAN DAUGHTER MABEL IOLA BURIED IN HARMONY CEMETERY --- Mabel Iola died at her home in Lincoln Twp. April 17, 1891. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Breniman, age 2 years, 2 mo. and 12 days. Mabel was a bright and beautiful child, a favorite of all who knew her and the pet of the family. Thursday morning she was in good health, but in the afternoon she seemed to be indisposed, yet nothing serious was apprehended. Early Friday morning a doctor was sent for but before he could arrive she was dead. The doctor was unable to say what was the cause of the death, but believed it to have been the rupturing of a blood vessel of the heart.
The parents could hardly realize that the baby, who a few short hours before was enjoying the best of health and whose little feet was pattering on the floor, and whose baby lips were lisping the name of "Papa" and "Mama", had been called away, and that they would never more feel her little arms around their neck or listen to her baby voice.
None but those who have been called upon to part with the dearest object upon earth can realize what these parents feel upon this occasion. Some eight months ago this family was called upon to give up a beloved daughter and sister, after a long and painful illness. On the morning their baby was taken away, parties from Grinnell were erecting a monument over the grave of that daughter, thus calling to their minds afresh the great sorrow of a few months ago. The second bereavement fell with a stunning force on the bereaved family.
On Saturday Mr. Stonestreat, the artist, went to the residence and took a photograph of Mabel in her casket. The funeral took place on Sunday at 10 o'clock at the church, Rev. Oehler officiating. A quartette from the Grace Church choir from Brooklyn, composed of Messrs. Wright and Kibby, Mrs. Chas. West, Misses Melvin and Cunning, rendered some beautiful selections after which the baby was laid at rest in the beautiful cemetery at Harmony by the side of her sister.
This doubly afflicted family still have the sincere sympathy of the community in this great sorrow.

Burial

The inscription on the stone says Abel, dau of G. & B. Breniman. It's a mystery why the "M' is not on the front of her name.
