Clara Louisa BRENIMAN

Clara was born on a farm 5 miles south of Brooklyn. She and her family lived in the Brooklyn area until 1900, when they moved to Des Moines. She cared for her parents for many years until their deaths.
She moved to Springfield, Mo. and lived there for about 20 years, returning only when her sister there died. She always made a living for herself, some jobs including being a clerk in a store, a dressmaker and a private seamstress for families.
She cared for many older people. She had learned some good self-doctoring techniques with herbs from her grandmother, Kathryn Strasser. She never drove a car. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and Sunday School. She was considered to be Iowa's oldest citizen when she died at the Senior Home at Montezuma, Ia.
