EXPLODING CARTRIDGE WOUNDS MONTICELLO WOMAN - Monticello, Mississippi, January 12, 1935 - Mrs. J.D. Ham narrowly escaped serious injury when she was painfully injured by the explosion of a .22 caliber cartridge in a heater in her living room at the family residence here. The explosion of the shell cut her left knee on the knee-cap, severing an artery. Her brother, Dr. O. C. Brewer, was called in for consultation with Dr. J. W. Wilson, local physician, who states that unless unforeseen complications arise, she would recover from the unusual accident in a short time. It is supposed that the cartridge was accidentally thrown in the waste basket and on into the stove.
