William W. "Buck" Brewer was certainly a farmer. Whether he had another vocation is not known. Lucille McDaniel has provided directions to "old Buck Brewer place" [This is probably his last farm, being only a short distance from Providence Church.]: From Pricedale, MS, turn left on C. D. Rayburn Road. continue to Lee Morgan Road. Turn left into Lee Morgan. At Lincoln county line, Lee Morgan becomes Carpenter. Continue to first brick house on right. Now Robbie J. Nettle Place (1995).

I. C. Brewer told the story of a traveling salesman calling at the farm in January and reporting to Buck that his kids were all playing in the creek. Buck inquired whether they had their shoes on, fearful that twelve pairs of shoes would be ruined.

My mother made a note in my baby book: "I took a ride in the car to see my granddaddy Brewer. I was three weeks and five days old." (Sunday, November 7, 1926) As far as I know, this is the only time I saw him. He died before my first birthday. (Davis L. Brewer.)

Text of obituary from McComb Enterprise, June 24, 1927: William W Brewer, 74 years old, died here, funeral services being conducted at Providence church in Lawrence Co. by the Rev. T. L. Price of Tylertown and the Rev W. A. Gill of McComb. Interment was made in the cemetery there. Three of his sons, C T, I C, and A N Brewer are merchants in McComb. Other surviving children are L M Brewer of Hernando, Mrs. F. W. Farrell of Laurel, Mrs. J. D. Ham, Monticello, Mrs. R. L. Lester, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Johnnie Dunaway, McComb. The community loved Mr. Brewer, he was a grand old man with a glorious life behind him. He was a true Christian, a faithful citizen. The community grieves with the family when such men pass on.

Providence church cemetery registry lists "BREWER (mkr. near Elizabeth Brewer, possibly W W Brewer). I have examined these two adjacent stones. Elizabeth's is in good condition, the other is broken a few inches above the base and the broken piece is missing. Although they are of a different vintage (hers circa 1903, his circa 1927) it is obvious that the bases are the same size and that the maker attempted to make them appear the same. There remains the following inscription: "The angels called him." I am convinced that this is the marker for my grandfather W. W. Brewer." (Davis Brewer, email: dbrewer@magic-sweep.com, 2003. Information about the descendants of W. W. Brewer was provided by Davis Brewer.)
