Asa Napoleon Brewer
(April 17, 1886 - 1969)
"There is a story that Mr. J. S. Brumfield operated a sawmill and opened a general store to support the employees. A. N. "Acy" Brewer was the stores first operator. The location was called J. S. until the US Post office renamed it Jayess. Asa made his home and operated a store at Mars Hill in Amite County for many years." (Davis Brewer, email: dbrewer@magic-sweep.com, 2003.)
