(Bef 13 Apr 1740 - 30 Mar 1829)

Mary Buller was the 3rd daughter of James Buller of Morval, Downes and Shillingham, and MP for Cornwall 1748-65. His wife (Mary's mother)was Lady Jane Bathurst, daughter of the 1st Earl of Bathurst.
Mary Buller, who married James Templer at Morval on 16th Feb 1776 and is buried in Teigngrace church, has an interesting ancestry. Her paternal grandmother was Rebecca Trelawny (b 4th Jan 1696), daughter of Bishop Trelawny, who was imprisoned in the Tower of London, and is immortalised in the Cornish “national anthem” (shall Trelawny live, or shall Trelawny die…). Rebecca was said to be very beautiful. At 20 years old she was obliged to marry John Francis Buller who was badly disfigured by smallpox. Their son, Mary’s father, was James Buller. James Buller held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cornwall between 1747 and 1765. He lived at Downes, Crediton, Devon and at Morval, Cornwall. John Francis Buller was a direct descendant of King Edward I of England (Longshanks), and therefore, all descendants of Mary Buller are also descendants of Edward I.
