Sir James Buller MP

James Buller
(17 June 1717 – 30 April 1765) was a British Tory politician and ancestor of the Viscounts Dilhorne and the Barons Churston.
Born at Downes House, near Crediton, he was the oldest son of John Francis Buller and his wife Rebecca Trelawney, daughter of Sir Jonathan Trelawny, 3rd Baronet. His younger brothers were the politician John Buller, Francis Buller and the Bishop William Buller. He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford. Buller entered the British House of Commons in 1741 and represented the constituency until 1747. A year later, he was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Cornwall, sitting until his death in 1765.
On 19 November 1739, he married firstly Elizabeth Gould, daughter of William Gould, and had by her a son. She died in 1742 and Buller married Hon. Jane Bathurst, second daughter of Allen Bathurst, 1st Earl Bathurst two years later. By his second wife, he had three sons and three daughters. Buller died in 1765. His oldest son James was a Member of Parliament and his third son Francis was a judge.
