While in Porterville, CA, October 14 through 18, 1992, for Chet's funeral, I had conversations with Genelle and Diana. They never knew when Chet and Ellen were married as they never celebrated an anniversary. They thought possibly they had been married in Mexico and possibly in 1942. Archie said the station his dad (Walter Landers) owned and sold to Chet was where Millinich's Body Shop was in 1992 - on Sunnyside. There was a tiny house behind the station where Archie's father's family lived for a while. Chet and Archie were born in the house on Grand Avenue, west of what is now Hwy 65. The intersection where Chet had the accident that led to his death was Grand and Hwy 65. He made a left turn to go west on Grand and turned into the path of an oncoming car.
Chet was in a bicycle/auto accident when he was 16 and was in serious condition for quite a while. That resulted in the bad arm he had. He was regaining some use of the arm and doctors went in for one more surgery and it not only didn't help, it made it worse again and Chet lost all use of the arm.
The girls noted that when Roger died "this summer", it was a stroke. He was brain dead when they got him to a hospital and they kept his body alive so they could use it for organ donations. Chet jokingly asked the doctors if they could give him an arm from Roger.
