Grandparents Adam Yager
Fathers mother & father Eva Yager
mothers parents John Hertzberger
Elizabeth Hertzberger
They all came to America from Germany. They came to St Cloud year 1849. Mother parents located on a farm or homestead in St Joe township. My grandfather Hertzberger and my great-grandfather (Dressler) also came from Germany. Located 1 mile east of grandfather's place. I am named after him, Geo Fredric Dressler. Mother's parents were Luthernas. Ffather parents were Catholic. Father quit the Catholic church. I never knew him to go to the Catholic Church. Father's sisters and brothers: Adam, John, Jos, brothers, sisters Elizabeth, Lenna, Katie, Anna, Eva. Aunt Eva still living is 81 years old. Aunt Lizzie was 98 when she died.
Mother's side there were 3 children, Mary, Mother Katherine, and John. All dead.
Dad was a pump builder by teade and later started farming on mother's farm where we all grew up. There was John, Ed and Ida, twins, Geo, May died, Bill, Bob, Arthur, Alfred died very young, then triplets Elle, Elmer, Ethel.(Uncle Edward died).
Your grandfather was killed and Ida on a railroad crossing year 1907. Ed got met his death in car accident rideing with a neighbor year we got married.
I was born in the year 1888, Dec 19. I look and was the image of my dad. He always had a mustache. Mother always said that favored me but Dad said not. But he did talk to me_________ a little. Boy was he strict. We had to mind and how many times my setter was red. I stayed home until I was 25. Then I went to the McPhilips Vet College. (Chicago) Practiced at Albany. Was inducted into Service Sept 23, 1917. Was over seas, England and France and Germany. Was discharged from the Army June 23, 1919. Started practicing at Albany again. Was married to Alice Seimmering of LeSueur, year of June 24, 1930. On April of the following April the 1st we had a very pleasant arrival. A dandy little girl that her daddy loves very, very much. You can go on from here.
Mother's parents lived in a little log cabin. Indians, wolves, bears and the like. She made her corn flour on a coffee mill. Grandfather worked 3 months for a cow. was gone that time. She and her little son, John, were all alone. When grandfather came home with cow Johnny did not know his father. Mother parents were trifty.
Father parents lived near St Cloud. There was no St Cloud at the time and they were stanch Catholic and give everything to the church. Which I don't think is very nessecary. Grandparents Herzberger always lived on the farm with us. We had a big double house.
My father was a widower. His first wife and son died. He met mother and they said love at first sight. Dad always wore a beard in the winter.

Money was very scarce. Mother made made all stockings and mittens and pants and blouses. She could make things real neat and fancy. She was known by Grandma Yager. Always willing to help a friend when in trouble or other crisis. Dad always helped his neighbors when they were in trouble. But we had plenty to eat and wear even if we were poor. Money but rich in the way of living. We boys used to hunt, fish in season.
Dad wanted to go to Canada and wheat farm but Brother Ed did not care for that so that did not materialize.
My Grandmother Herzberger was a small woman like Mrs _______, Mrs Coopers mother. I would go and see her in evenings. She sat in her raocker and I would say grossmother - which means grandmother - tell me about Germany and when I'd start to fall asleep she say dicka which means fatty in German. She always saved her left over from dinner when get home from school as fast as we could and gee that was good. But as we grew up the yonger ones would get it. We always had to carry in her wood and water. She always have a piece of candy for us. As I grew older I would always on her birthday which was 17th of Dec and Marie the 19th.
