Rites Set Saturday
Funeral service for William L. Avery, 78, of 1508 Summer Street, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Pekin Bible Church.
Rev. Harold Pothoven and Rev. Howard Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the Kuecks-Woolsey Funeral Home from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8 p.m. today and at the church from 12 noon Saturday until th time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Bible Church
Mr. Avery died at 11:07 a.m. Thursday, Feb 2, 1978, in St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been in ill health approximately 15 months.
Born in Schuyler County apr 8, 1899, he was a son of William and Nora Ridlinger Avery. His marriage to Dorothy L. Loring occurred Mar 9, 1921 at Beardstown.
Mr. Avery was employed by Commonwealth Edison Company 32 years before he retired in 1960. He then was a real estate agent with the J. H. Shade agency until he became ill.
He was a member of the Powerton Playboys Retirees' Club and of Pekin Bible Church.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Nellie) Kahler of Pekin, two sons, John M. and Lawrence E., both of Pekin; three borhters, Isaac of Virginia, IL, and James and Herman, both of Pekin; five sisters, Mrs. Metta Lashbrook of Beardstown, Mrs. Gladys Pagels of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Lawrence (Mary) McDannald of Chaplin, Mrs. Lester (Ruth) Ragan of Brooklyn Center, Minn. and Mrs. Ethel Hill of Pekin; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
