Enters 120 acres in Jackson County near the head of Flynns Creek, part of Warrant #3978, including the place and improvement where Benjamin Fox now lives beginning just below said Fox's field running up siad Creek, both sides with the various meanders. Taken up by Benjamin Fox, Flynns Crk. 4 hoggs, all sows marked with an under bit in each ear. Transmitted 1 Aug 1819. 10 Oct 1818.

The 1820 Census, Jackson Co, TN, has Benjamin Fox and spouse, both over 45. 2m -10 [Henry & Richard] 2m 10-16 [Bartlett & John] 1m 16-18 [Wm] 1m 16-26 [Wm - at age 16 he would have been counted twice]. There were 2f under 10 [Sarah & Elizabeth] There was also a Nathaniel Fox of the same age in Jackson Co; Benjamin had no known brother of this name.

Lying in Jackson Co on Flynn's Creek, south side of the Cumberland River. Begins on north side of Creek not far below Fox's field; crosses creek; NW corner of Benjamin Foxes Entry 351 for 50 acres; crosses the old Fort Blount road. Issued 10 Jan 1825.
1825, 50 acres, Mountain Dist, Bk 1, p.174 Grant #725. Recorded 30 May 1825. Entered 5 Jul 1824. Surveyed 29 Oct 1824. On waters of Flynn's Creek, south side Cumberland River. Being on a ridge; bank of Flynn's Creek. Issued 11 Jan 1825.

I expect Benjamin Fox was deceased prior to 1833; earlier than the 1842 suggested by others. Elizabeth Fox entered land that year, probably indicating her status as a widow.

Other possible children for Benjamin & Elizabeth from the 1850 Census. All living nearby: William, b. 1804; Bartlett b. 1806; John b.1809; Richard b. 1817; Henry b. 1819. Possibly a Benjamin b. 1823, although he is more likely a grandson.

Stone has obviously been placed in recent times and reads, "Benjamin Fox. First Fox Settler to area in 1806. Married to Elizabeth Anderson" It is in the Fox Cemetery in Jackson Co.
Said born 12 May 1772, Mecklenburg Co VA and died, 3 Aug 1842, Jackson Co, TN.
Elizabeth Anderson Fox is said born 1776, Virginia, died 1846.

Benjamin Fox, the son of William and Mary Kindrick Fox, was born in 1770 in Mecklinburg County, Virginia. His was one of the first Fox families to come to Jackson County, Tennessee. Benjamin Fox married first Nancy Norvell; their child Nancy (b.July 23, 1793; d. July 21, 1857) was born in Virginia. She married Joseph Chaffin on October 18, 1812, in Jackson County. They are the parents of Fox Chaffin who lived at the bottom of Fox Hill Road.
Benjamin Fox married second Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of Barton Anderson and Frances Dickerson of Bautencourt County, Virginia. Their children all born in Jackson County, are as follows:
1.William (1804) married Jane Birdwell.
2. Bartlett Anderson (1806) married Miram Bassham.
3. John Kindrick (1808) married Margaret (Peggy) Carter.
4. Benjamin.
5. Sara S. (1811) married Miles Dennis.
