Nicholas' father Thomas Johnson died about 1734 and Nicholas distributed estate to his two underage sisters:
6 Feb 1734. Deed of Gift. Nicholas Johnson of St. Johns Parish, King William Co for affection ...my loving sister Jane Johnson do give one Negro Girl slave named Ester.
24 Jan 1734. Deed of Gift. .....to sister Anne Johnson one Negro girl slave named Tamr.

Nicholas Johnson sold his plantation Chericoke in King William and moved to Louisa Co VA.
19 Jun 1737. Advertisement. Plantation containing 970 acres, two good dwelling houses....navigable part of Pamunkey River just above Spencer's Ferry in King William County, belonging to Mr. Nicholas Johnson to be sold.
21 Apr 1739. Chericoke was sold to Richard Chapman, who had married Jane Johnson, Nicholas' sister. Title was held up because of entail but after that was cleared, Nicholas Johnson & Elizabeth his wife joined with Ann Johnson, his mother in giving a deed of conveyance to Richard Chapman, 1741.

Nicholas Johnson of St. Martins Parish Louisa Co. son and heir at law of Thomas Johnson late of King William Co., gent., dec'd. to Richard Johnson of same, gent. second son of the said Thomas Johnson for ?243-13-2 & ? penny currt. money for 12 Negroes and their increase- Polly, Betty, Margaret, Jonny, little Jonny, little Polly, Stephen, Sarah, Arthur, Toby, Moses, and Dick, now or lately in the possession of Ann Cosby mother of said parties which said Negroes Nicholas Johnson should or ought to have by and after the decease of said Ann Cosby which said Negroes are part of the 1/3 part of the Negro slaves belonging to the estate of the said Thomas Johnson and assigned to sd. Ann by her right of dower. Sig. Nicholas Johnson. wit. Wm. Meriwether and Thomas Perkins.
