Some time prior to 1760 he married Elizabeth Meriwether, daughter of Thomas Meriwether.

John Boswell & Ann his wife, Thomas Johnson of the County of Caroline, Gent, & William Johnson of Louisa Co.  for natural affection to our nephew Tho. Johnson, the Son of Nicholas Johnson of Louisa Co all our right and title in Negro woman Jenny and four Negro boys, Roger, Stephen & ??  and one girl named Sarah.  Part of the estate of Thomas Johnson, late of the county of King William, father to the said Ann Boswell, Thomas & William Johnson.  Signed John Boswell, Thomas Johnson, William Johnson. Wit:  Robt ?Laston, Thomas Bowles,William Morris.

There were several Thomas Johnsons in the records of Louisa Co, including another Thomas Johnson, but this particular Thomas held the job for a number of years.

When daughter Ann Meriwether Johnson's marries or nears 21 to have slaves. Wife to be Executrix. Signed 24 Feb 1801, Thomas Johnson. Wit: John Poindexter, William G. Poindexter, William Hughes.
Codicil, 23 Dec 1801 Son Thomas to have land whereon I live including tract purchased of Col. Richard Anderson.
