Daniel Smith married 15 Jan 1801 to Mary Grindstaff. She was born 15 Jan 1785 and died 1843. Levi Durham Smith published a family history in 1903 about this line. They moved to Middle Tennessee, Wilson Co, soon after the birth of their first child Nicholas, settling two miles west of Alexandria near Mahone.

Daniel was probably the youngest son born of Catherine Stonecypher the Elder.

Daniel was in the Wilson Co Census in 1820 and 1830, but not 1840.
