Benjamin Terry's will was dated 28 Sep 1769, proved in Pittsylvania Court on 26 Sep 1771. Sons Nathaniel & Benjamin, executors. Said to have named sons Nathaniel, Benjamin, Peter, Joseph and Robert and daughters Kezia Murphy, Lavinia King, Sarah Terry, Elizabeth Buckingham, and Mary Terry. Exec: wife Elizabeth Terry, sons Nathaniel & Benjamin.

1st all debts to be paid
To beloved wife Elizabeth lend four Negroes, cow & calves, hogs, feather bed & furniture, pans, plantation working toules, black mair by name of Hazard, etc. At her decease to be disposed of.
Son Nathaniel Terry, the upper survey on Sandy Creek, Negro man Jack, man Gregory
Son Benjamin tract I now live on, the old & first tract, 300 acres, Negro man Abraham after my wife's death
Son Peter Terry the survey, main branch & boy Dave & girl Isbell, riffle gun.
Son Joseph, Negro man, girl, and one ???
Son Robert survey adjoining Peter Terrys & Negrow boys, riffle gun which is not payd for but to be paid
Lend to dau Kezia Murphy, two Negroes, after her deceased to be equally divided between her children she had by her former husband James Scott & all her other children by her present husband Richard Murphy
Lend to dau Levina King, husband Elijah King, slaves
To dau Sarah Terry, slaves
Dau Elizabeth Buckingham, slaves

Remainder to be sold & money divided between all my children

Children as listed here are in the order they were listed in the will, sons first, daughters second, in the usual manner. This was not likely the birth order - no doubt some of the daughters were older than several of the sons. Mary seems to be the only unmarried daughter at the time of the writing of the will, as her sister Sarah had married a Terry.
