I have seen the wife of Benjamin Terry given as Elizabeth Irby and as Elizabeth Dickerson with no proof provided for either. The year seen for her birth is about 1704 in New Kent Co VA, marriage approximately 1724. However, some of the births of the children are suggested as late as 1753 which would be virtually impossible for a lady born 1704.
Elizabeth probably died herself shortly after the writing of Benjamin's will. She did not serve as executrix, though she was named as such and she did not receive a dower settlement.
Thorough researchers of the Terry family have discovered that in the will of Benjamin Terry, the name "Irby" was inserted above the line in one out of three occurences of the name Elizabeth Terry. This appears to have been written in a different hand and inserted into the will at a later time. The given names Dickerson and Elizabeth Dickerson are used repeatedly in this family among the descendants of Benjamin & Elizabeth.
