The Guilford Co NC Militia [in which many of the Pittslyvania and related men served) lists a William Thomas as well as a John Epperson, both privates. This William would have been 18 in 1779.

21 May 1787 Land entry for William Thomas. 200 acres both sides Dix's road beg. at Thomas Pitoles line, includes the 7 Miles Springs. Part Warrant issues to said Thomas 6 May 1783 #15615. [This 200 acres again entered on 1 Jun 1791 and marked "Void"]
10 Sep 1788 Will Thomas entered 318 acres S side Dan River. by Warrant issued to Charles Burton. [Entered again on 1 Jun 1791]
19 Sep 1791 Wm and Asa Thomas entered 338 acres on Dan River joining George Lumpkins land.

The following deeds were found in Rockingham Co NC. It appears a William Thomas bought 150 acres to given to Sarah Lewis. It is curious that he has the same name & is probably about the same age as this William. There seems to be no connection. Most of the associates of the William Thomas of Rockingham appear to be associates of James Holderness as well, but neither can be found to have a connection to those of the same name in Caswell Co..
