DECLINES RAPIDLY AFTER DEATH OF HUSBAND TWO MONTHS AGO

The funeral of Mrs. Appolonia Klapperich, age 82 years, who died here at 6:15 p.m., Friday, December 6th, was held at the St. Boniface church Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Since the death of her husband, Jason Klapperich, two months ago, her decline in health became rapid and she was confined to her bed for two weeks.

Mrs. Frank Meyer was cross bearer and six nephews, Math, Jos. Aloys, George, John and Alex Zierden, were the active pallbearers. The honarary pall bears were: Mrs. Jack Koska, Mrs. Chas. Pimpl, Mrs. Mary Hoppe, Mrs. Andrew Haider. Mrs. Frank Morehouse and Mrs. Herman Hollermann.

She was a member of the Holy Rosary Christian Mothers and Pour Souls societies.

The deceased was born at Milwaukee, Wisconsin Nov. 16, 1858. Her maiden name was Appolonia Homberg. She came with her parents to Meire Grove at the age of seven years. Her father died when she was nine and later her mother married Math Zierden at New Munich.

On Nov. 26, 1884 she marrried Jacob Klapperich at New Munich and lived there until April 1923 when they came to Melrose. Mr. Klapperich died here October 10, 1940.

Two sons and five daughters survive. Mary, William and Peter of Melrose, Mrs. Joe Schaefers of New Munich, Kate of Willmar, Mrs. Charles Hageman of St. Paul, and Mrs. Wallace Peterson of Sauk Centre.

There are 13 grandchildren. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Joe Homburg of Power, Montana, Mrs. E. Barthle of Grolon, S.D., Peter Zierden of St. Paul, Casper Zierden of St. Joseph, John Zierden of Elrosa and Mrs. Anna Terharr of Mt. Angel, Oregon.

Among relatives and friends attending the funeral out-of-town were : Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Schaefer and son, Leo, and daughter, Nina. Mr. and Mrs. Math Zierden, Mr. and Mrs. Aloys Zierden, George Zierden, Henry Dierkhising and son, Harold, Mrs. Fred Zieman, Henry Schulzetenberge, Gerhard and Miss Katie Hoppe, and Mr. and Mrs. John Funk all of New Munich: mr. and Mrs. Wallace Peterson and son, Donald and Duane, of Sauk Centre. Mr. and Mrs. Math Koetter of Freeport; John Zierden of Elrosa; Casper Zierden of of Elrosa; Casper Zierden of St. Joseph; Leo and Alex Zierden of Cold Spring; Mrs. Chas. Hageman and son, Wilfred and Harold, Peter Zierden and son, Jos. of St. Paul.
