ORONO - Helen J. Redmond, 90, wife of the late Ralph L. Redmond, died Jan. 27, 1992, at her residence. She was born April 13, 1901, at Bangor, the daughter of Brighton P. and Beaula (Leach) Hodgdon. Mrs. Redmond was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Orono and a charter member of St. Mary's Circle No. 425, Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the Orono Woman's Club, American Contract Bridge Association, Bangor Bridge Club, the Queen City Bridge Club, University of Maine Bridge Club; a former director of the Maine Bridge Association; and was a co-sponsor of the Annual Scholarship Fund Bridge Game held at the University of Maine. Mrs. Redmond is survived by three sons, Lawrence R. Redmond of Oxon Hill, Md., John T. Redmond of Rockmart, Ga., and David M. Redmond of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. John (Janet) Szabo of Orrington and Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Hambrock of Orono; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Frederick and James. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono, where a prayer service will be said 7:30 p.m. by St. Mary's Circle No. 425, Daughters of Isabella. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Orono, with the Rev. Paul B. Trainer, pastor, celebrant. Spring interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 87 Main St., Orono, 04473.Endnotes
