In the 1865 Illinois state census he and his family are in Marengo.
In the 1870 Census he is living with his wife Emily and family in Marengo as a Railroad Baggage Man. Also living with them is his daughter-in-law Flora and her son Benjamin.
In the 1900 Census he is living with his second wife Alvira in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. His daughter, Valora (Emily), is now married to Charles Griffin and is living in Hammond, Tangiphahoa.
In the 1910 Census widowed Alvira is living with step-grandson Frank Griffin.
