From the publication Morrison's History of Clymer: "Deacon Leonard B. Freeman was born in Cayuga Co., on July 9, 1814, the son of Silas and Sara Freeman, and came to Clymer in 1828. He was married on April 25, 1838, to Betsey Brown, a daughter of William F. Brown and settled on Clymer Hill, near the centre of the town, removing to French Creek (neighboring township) in 1853, and then to Clymer village in 1856, where he died on November 29, 1889. He was a farmer and dealer in cattle, held several town offices, and for many years was a Deacon in the Baptist Church in this village. He was the father of five children, Wilhelmina, Constantine, Morley, Eugenia (wife of Phineas J. Morris) and Adelia. Morley Freeman enlisted in the late war in 1861, under Col. Jeremiah C. Drake of the 112th Regiment, and died in the hospital on April 30, 1862."
Similar to Morrison's is the Chautauqua County History. Difference is: He was once elected a Justice of the Peace, but declined to qualify.
Robert R. Freeman's "Freeman Families of New England" has this additional information:
"Event: in 1828 in Clymer, Chautauqua, New York. He removed with his parents to Clymer.
Event: in 1853 in French Creek, Chautauqua, New York. He removed to French Creek from Clymer.
Event: in 1856 in Clymer, Chautauqua, New York. He returned to live in Clymer again."
From the Jamestown Journal, May 4, 1888 - "The golden wedding of Deacon L. B. Freeman and wife at their residence in Clymer, was celebrated April 25, and was remarkable from the fact that it was the first wedding of the kind ever celebrated by people who had spent their whole married lives in this town; and they have both been members of the Baptist church for the whole time. The day was a very pleasant one, and about sixty of their friends were present and cheered the hearts of the venerable couple with kind greetings and golden offerings.
J. M. Upton, Esq., prepared and read a brief, interesting account of the social life and changes which had occurred since their marriage, which was signed by many present and left as a souvenir of the day. L. S. Terry's very appropriate presentation remarks were attentively listned to by all."
