Ole Stageberg
(30 Jun 1863 - 19 Jan 1925)
According to Margaret Staberg Splitter, Ole's granddaughter, Ole changed the spelling of his name to Staberg" from the longer "Stageberg" in 1902.
She also said "There is an interesting history about he grandmother. When she came to America, about 1881, her name was Gunhild Ingemoen. We don't know if she changed it to Julia Anderson or if immigration officials did."
Julia Anderson was born in Valdres, Norway, January 29, 1860. She died October 4, 1901. Grandpa died Jan. 19, 1925. They lived in South Stillwater (now called Bayport). Grandpa was in the lumber and sawmill industry. They were Lutheran."
Julia is found in the Farm Book for Sør-Aurdal with her parents Anders Evenson Odden and Anne Kristafersdatter Skifet. She is the third child, born 1860 and it's noted she went to Amerika in 1884. The family came to Ingemoen in the late 1850s and lived there. In 1865 they had 2 cattle and 5 sheep, sowed 1/4 barrel barley, 1 barrel mixed grain and 1/2 barrel potatoes. A son, Kristoffer, took over Ingemoen.
In the 1920s Ole and Julia resided on Fifth Street in Bayport, Minnesota.
