Daniel Engstrom

Daniel Engstrom was born in Varmland, Sweden, Nov. 15, 1862 and came to this country when he was 14. He stayed in Stillwater for a time and finally made his home at Lakeland, Minn. While there he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Johnson, and to this union 2 children were born, a daughter, Pauline, and a son, Albin, both at home. In 1897 the Engstroms moved here and settled at Cedar Lake, where they have lived since, and where Daniel Engstrom passed away Jan. 18, at 71 years of age.
The decedent had not been in good health for many years. He experienced a great deal of trouble and anxiety because of various illnesses, and seeking aid from many doctors, he continued cheerfully to hope for complete recovery. His sudden death was caused by heart failure.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at the home at 1 p.m., Rev. Haaland preaching on I. thes. 5:9, 10. Rev. and Mrs. Haaland sang 2 duets, "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me," and "Abide With Me". Interment was at Huntington cemetery.

Daniel Engstrom, a native of Sweden, resident of this country 57 years, died at his home on the shore of Cedar Lake, Tuesday afternoon, while sitting in his chair talking to a neighbor, G. W. Shoop. He had been ill for a year or so but the end came unexpectedly. He was born in Varmland, Sweden, and was 71 years, 2 months and a day old at his death.
The funeral service was conducted Friday at the home by Rev. John M. Haaland, interment following in the Huntington cemetery, W. W. Beebe having charge of the arrangements. The pallbearers were Oscar Olien, G. W. Shoop, Otto Peterson, David Westberg, Adolph Satterlund and Malvin Stromen.
Surviving relatives are the widow, a daughter, Pauline, and a son, Albin, both at home, a brother, John Engstrom, Hudson, and a sister, Mrs. John Staberg, Lakeland.
