Louis Olson was born in Sweden, January 14, 1860, and came to Lakeland township, Minnesota, June, 1887, and commenced work in the C. N. Nelson Lumber Company's mill at Lakeland, where he ramined until 1891, and then engaged to work for R. H. McCoy's Mill Compnay. After remaining here for several years he took up contract work for the Slaughter & Swenson Lumber Company of Hudson, Wis., running their shingle and lath mills and doing wood contracting. At one time he supplied as hight as forty-two men and three teams. Mr. Olson is still engaged with this company. October 28, 1889, he married Annie Engstrom, who was born in Sweden, December 9, 1866. They have seven children--Oscar W., Annie V., Edward E., Alma M., Carl A., Albion and Harold E. Mr. Olson lives in the village of Lakeland. Besides his home he owns the store and hall building occupied by A. A. Davis as general store, and forty-four acres of farm land near the village of Lakeland. He holds the office of treasurer of the school of Lakeland. He is one of the charter members of the Modern Woodmen of America, and the family are members of the Swedish Lutheran Church.
