GEORGE KRATTLEY, RETIRED FARMER, DIES
George S. Krattley, 611 9th St., a retired farmer, died Sunday, Jan. 6, at Hudson Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for two days. He was 81.
Funeral services were Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Canfield officiating. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.
Pallbearers were Theodore and William Marty, Oscar D. Olson, Albert Hanson, and Max Gartmann of Hudson and George Hicock of New Richmond.

George must have quit farming after the death of Bill and Martina in 1947. I recall him coming to visit my dad from time to time and at least once every summer he would bring along a watermelon. Dad would stop whatever we were doing-- haying or whatever, and we'd sit in the front yard and enjoy George's watermelon. It was a treat that we kids all looked forward to.
