"Frank Martin has purchased Gus Krenke's interest in the Krenke & Kratley saloon"

In the 1910 census for the city of Hudson Frank is age 25 and has been married 1 year. He is the proprietor of a saloon. His wife’s name is “Josie”. She is age 20.

Theresa said she thought Frank was married to Josie (Josephine) Cashman from Hudson. She believes they had a daughter, Vera, and lived on Tenth Street near Beaudry's-- Fran Powers played with Vera when they were youngsters. Theresa also said that while they lived in Hudson Frank ran a saloon on Second Street, in the vicinity of Pudge's Bar is located today. After they left Hudson and moved to Minnesota they were frequent visitors at the Krattley farm. Josie's father (or brother) was Joe Cashman. After talking to Theresa I checked some old telephone books and in the May 1, 1911 Hudson Directory found a listing for "Frank Krattley, saloon, phone number 336-L." There was no listing for him in either 1910 or 1912. Frank was still alive and living in Watertown, Minnesota in December 1947 when his sister, Martina, died.

Joan is the only daughter of Franklin's son, Franklin (Bud) Kratley. Her aunt Vera and her mother are still living. She offered to contact her cousins and get the information on their side of the Kratley family. I sent a letter with information on the Krattley/Gartmann families. She was unaware that the Krattley's were Swiss; she believed they were German.
