Gustaf Swenson, Fish Lake Pioneer Resident, Called
Last rites were held for Gustaf Swenson, life-time resident of Fish Lake Township on Sunday, June 25, at the Fish Lake Lutheran Church.
Gust Swenson was born on December 6, 1875, in Fish Lake Township, near Goose Lake, and was the eldest son of the late Nils and Anna Swenson. He was a lifetime member of the Fish Lake Lutheran church.
On April 10, 1914, he was united in marriage to Ellen England. To their union was born one daughter, Phoebe, now Mrs. George Lindwall of Minneapolis. His parents and two sisters have preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife,
Ellen; daughter, Phoebe; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles E. Swenson; a sister, Mrs. C. F. Swanson; besides other relatives and friends.
About three months ago a marked decline in health was observed and his strength rapidly failing. On June 15th he was taken to the Rush City hospital, where he passed away one week later on June 22nd. Christ had been his life and death was considered gain as he expressed it to his daughter on one occasion, "I long to be at home with Christ, which is far better."
Attending the serrvice from afar were Miss Olga England, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Carlson, Mr. August Anderson, Mrs. Ida Lindwall and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Taylor, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. England, Rubie and Edwin of Isanti; Mr.
and Mrs. Ener Larson of Cambridge and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Freedeen of Braham.
Interment was made in Fish Lake Lutheran cemetery.
