Death
Harvey Napoleon Furr, Sr., 90, of Woodstock, died Tuesday in his home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by The Rev. Greg Amos. Interment will follow in the Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery in Stanley with military honors by the VFW Post 2123 of Winchester. Mr. Furr was born April 7, 1921 in Fauquier County, son of Jackson R. and Katherine Haley Furr. Mr. Furr was a WW II veteran having served in the US Army and received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He retired from Avtex Fibers, was a landscaper, and had worked for Walmart in Front Royal. Mr. Furr was a life member of VFW Post 1860 and American Legion Post 0141. He was also a member of The National Wildlife Federation and The Wounded Warrior Project. Mr. Furr was predeceased by his first wife, Irene Lunceford Kumagai, and his second wife, Malissa Anna Taylor Furr. Surviving are three sons, Harvey N. Furr, Jr, of Woodbridge, David L. Furr, of Nokesville, and Chief Richard H. Furr, Sr. and wife Ruth of Front Royal; one daughter, Christine E. Crittenden of Springfield; two brothers, Charlie Furr of Boise, ID, and Daniel Furr of Culpeper; four sisters, Alice Trenum of Locust Grove, Mable Canard of Warrenton, Georgie Dawson of Summerduck, and Virginia Worley of Remington; eleven grandchildren, Dianna Frazier, H. David Furr, Tammy Rhoades, Carolyn D. Rector, Darrell L. Furr, Dominic W. Furr, Anthony D. Furr, Rebecca Winstead, John H. O'Quinn, Jr., Richard H. "Ricky" Furr, Jr. and Danielle Furr; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Furr was also survived by a long time friend, Marleen Werner of Bayse. He was predeceased by one daughter, Joanne J. O'Quinn; four brothers, Howard Furr, Jack Furr, Wesley Furr, and Joe Furr; and two sisters, Elizabeth "Sis" Wines, and Ruth Slayton. Pallbearers will be members of the Front Royal Police Department. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Oral Roberts Ministries, P.O.
