Death

Rolland Raymond Furr, 920 N. Augusta Street, died at seven o‘clock this morning (June 23, 1960) in the King’s Daughters’ Hospital where he had been a patient for 10 days. A native of Augusta County, he was born Sept. 23, 1900, a son of Oakee J. and Jennie Clark Furr, Rt. 3, Staunton. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha V. Furr; four sons, Richard E. Furr, Worceter, Mass., Cyrus W. Furr, Staunton, Robert N. Furr, Hanover, Pa. and Raymond E. Furr, Staunton; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley A. Smith and Mrs. Helen L. Helmick, both of Staunton; two brothers, Ira E. Furr and Harold C. Furr, both of Rt. 3, Staunton; one sister, Mrs. Helen Burton, Richmond; also 12 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’ clock in the Memorial Chapel of Fred Henry Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by the Rev. David F. Glovier. Burial will be in Emanuel Episcopal Chapel Cemetery, Verona. Pallbearers will be the following nephews, Ernest Furr, Tom Closen, Hugh Ralston, James Ralston, Paul Ralston, Elwood Ralston, Charles Ralston, Franklin Ralston, Thomas Ralston and Kenneth Ralston.
