Death
The funeral for Harold Clark Furr, 79, of Route 3, Staunton will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Barren Ridge Church, of the Brethren. The Revs. James A. Hall, Clarence Moyers and William H. Garber will conduct the service. Private burial in the church cemetery will be earlier in the day. Mr. Furr died Feb. 6, 1994. He was born April 2, 1914, in Augusta County and was the son of the late Oakkee J. and Jennie Clark Furr. He lived all of his life in the Barren Ridge community of Route 3, Staunton And graduated from Mount Sidney High School. He had been employed by Crompton-Shenandoah Corp. at Waynesboro before his retirement in 1979. Mr. Furr was a member of Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren and the Hi Noon Senior Citizens Club at New Hope. On May 12, 1940, he married the former Anna Diehl, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Harold C. Furr II of Mansfield Center, Conn.; two foster sons, George C. Hill Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Wayne L. Hill of Route 2, Dayton; and six grandchildren: He was the last member of his immediate family. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home. Memorial contributions May be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, where Mr. Furr was a volunteer.Daily News Record, Feb. 8, 1994
