Death

LOCUST — Vernia Furr Hathcock, 75, of 314 Church Street, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at NorthEast Medical Center. She was born August 12, 1926 in Stanly County, NC, daughter of the late Clemmie Clontz and Archie Baxter Fur. She was married to the late Clyde Webster Hathcock, was a supervisor for Blain Hosiery Mill Locust, and was a member of Locust United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2001, at Locust United Methodist Church, Rev. Bruce Gwyn, Rev. Arval Rushing and Rev. Jessie Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The family will be at the Church Street residence. Surviving are daughters, Barbara Honeycutt of Locust, NC and Rebecca Whitley of Concord, NC; brothers, Archie Furr of Midland, NC and Homer Furr of Garden City, SC; sisters, Margie Hatley of Asheboro, NC and Nellie Smith of Monroe, NC; 3 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
