MARSHVILLE, NC-- Nellie Furr Smith, 91, of 7404 Nance Tarlton Rd., Marshville, died Saturday, May 25th, 2002, at Union Regional Medical Center, Monroe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartsell funeral home chapel in Midland. Burial will follow at Love's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stanfield. The Rev. Ned Christy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Born February 6, 1911, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Clementine Clontz Furr and the late Archie Baxter Furr. She was a packager for Frito-Lay. She was a member at Cole Memorial Methodist Church in Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Nathaniel Smith. Survivors include one son, Bobby Ray Smith, of Matthews, NC; three daughters, Arlene Gaddy, of Marshville, NC, Anne Queen, of Matthews, NC; and Judy Clemons, of Mint Hill, NC; two brothers, Archie Clayton Furr, of Midland, NC, and Homer Furr, of Garden City, SC; one sister, Margie Hatley, of Asheboro, NC; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
