Death
CHILDRESS, Texas, Dec, 8. — C. P. Furr, 60-year-old ward school janitor who died under the wheels of an automobile Saturday night, was buried here Monday. Funeral services were read by the Rev. George A. Curlee, Calvary Baptist church pastor, at the First Baptist church. Pallbearers were Clarence Philpott, J. B. Copeland, Dale Philpott, Roy Philpott, J. E. Voyles and R. L. Thornton. Furr, who was deaf, was killed when he stepped into the path of a car driven by Tolbert Murphy, Childress garage repairman. County officers who investigated said the accident was unavoidable. The automobile victim is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martelia Furr; two sons, Walter Furr of Childress and Carl Furr of Carlsbad, N. M.; two daughters, Mrs. Virgil Gamble of Tell and Mrs. Mabel Morgan of Garden Vally, both of Childress county; three brothers, Will Furr of Mena, Ark.; John Furr of Murfreesboro, Ark. and Fate Furr of Oklahoma City.Wichita Falls Times, Wichita Falls, Texas, December 8, 1936
