Willie Furr, 64, died yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his residence, 316 South West street. He had been ill for some time. Formerly a resident of Lincoln county, he had lived in Jackson for the past 712 (sic) years. He was a member of the Baptist church. His widow, Mrs. Cynthia Furr; one son, J. F. Furr, Jackson; four daughters, Miss Lula Furr, Mrs. A. J. Holder, Mrs. H. M. Dear and Mrs. L. T. Monton, all of Jackson; one brother, Henry Furr, Brookhaven; one sister, Mrs. Betty Case, Brookhaven, survive. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baldwin’ Funeral chapel with the Rev. W. A. Hewitt, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Active pall bearers will be Dr. E. H. Furr, Tony Poleo, Edgar Britt, John W. Gressett, Houston Sandifer and Street McNeal. Interment will be made in the Lakewood Memorial park.Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi, November 3, 1938
