Jacob Durr was born about 1818 in South Carolina. He married Barbara Anding born 1828 in Charleston District, South Carolina, daughter of John Anding and Charlotte ?. She is a 1/2 sibling to Martin A. Anding. This couple was first seen in the 1850 federal census of Copiah County. At that time, they had three sons; Levi, b. 1843, Lewis, b. 1846 and Pinkey, b. 1849. In 1852, a daughter Charotte was born. On February 12, 1853, Jacob dies without a will.

The above mentioned Negroes were hired out to various individuals.
The estate of Jacob R. Durr deceased in account with Calvin Blue, administrator. The said administrator charges himself with the following receipts had by him in behalf of said estate.

Note of W. W. Davis given for hire of JIM and GEORGE for 1860 drew on the 1st of January 1861---$70.00

Note of A. W. Smylie given for hire of HAGER for 1860 drew on the 1st of January 1861---$140.00

Note of Henry Furr given for hire of MIMA and TWO CHILDREN for the year 1860 drew on the 1st of January 1861---$40.00

Note of W. W. Davis given for hire of JIM and GEORGE for the year 1861 drew on the 1st of January 1862---$80.00

Note of T. C. McNair given for hire of MIMA and TWO CHILDREN for the year 1861 drew on the 1st of January 1862---$60.00

Note of A. W. Smylie given for hire of HAGER for the year 1861 drew on the year 1st of January 1861---$100.00

Jacob's widow, Barbara, married Henry Furr on November 29, 1855 in Copiah County. Henry Furr was born 1826 in Franklin Co., MS, to Isham Furr and Elizabeth ?, and died 1907 in Lincoln, Co., MS, according to the Furr Homepage. Furr along with his wife Barbara were appointed as administrators of Jacob's intestate estate. Henry Furr did not own any slaves in 1850. Furr owned six slaves in 1860.
