STANFIELD - Mr. Claude William Furr 78, retired N.C. Department of Transportation supervisor, died Jan. 27, 1995, at home. Funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. Survivors are his wife, Mary; sons, David Furr of Locust, Hubert Furr of Gold Hill, Willis Furr, Richard Furr, Henry Furr, Gearl Furr, Ricky Furr; daughters, Mrs. Barbara Osborne of Mint Hill, Mrs. Gertie Swaringen of Norwood, Mrs. Claudia Mesimer; brothers, Cecil Furr of Locust, Junior Furr; sister, Mrs. Cora Weaver of Albemarle. STANFIELD - Claude William Furr, 78, of 8262 Smith Road, died Friday (Jan. 27, 1995) at his home. Born Aug. 5, 1916, in StanlyCounty, he was a son of the late Henry Lester and Gertie Mae Barbee Furr. Employed by the N.C. Department of Transportation for 18 years, he retired as a supervisor. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include wife Mary McKinney Furr; sons DavidFurr, Locust, Hubert Furr, Gold Hill, Willis, Richard, Henry, Gearl and Ricky Furr, all_of Stanfield; daughters Barbara Osborne, Mint Hill, Gertie Swaringen, Norwood, and Claudie Mesimer, Stanfield, brothers Cecil Furr, Locust, and Junior Furr, Stanfield, sister Cora Weaver, Albemarle; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, First Bapist Church, conducted by the Rev. Terry Seamon, the Rev Steve Sells and the Rev Gene Hopkins. Burial in the church cemetery. Visitation: 7-9 pm Sunday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. At other times the family will be at the home on Smith Road. Memorials: Hospice of Stanly County, 921 N. Third St., Albemarle N.C. 28001.
