Death
Thomas Junior Furr, 68, of 7632 Harvell Rd., Stanfield, N.C., Stanly County, died Monday, Sept. 4, 1995, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Mr. Furr was born June 22, 1927, to Henry Lester Furr and Gertie Mae Barbee Furr of Stanly County. He was a retired foreman of the N.C. DOT Highway Dept. He also served in the U.S. Navy, Seabees, during World War II. He was a member of Love’s Chapel UMC. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Smith Furr of the home; sons, Thomas Alvin Furr of Thomasville and Michael Lane Furr of Stanfield; daughter, Mrs. Iris F. Hathcock of Stanfield; brother, Cecil Furr of Locust; sister, Mrs. Cora Weaver of Albemarle; and nine grandchildren. Funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, at 2 p.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenney Wallace and the Rev. Keith Austin officiating. Interment will be at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Albemarle Chapter 12, DAV. Family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
