Death

Pauline Smith Furr, 86, of Stanfield passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 in her daughter s home. Her funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday, October, 13, 2015 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clint Lewey officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Tuesday from Noon until 2 PM prior to the funeral service. At other hours the family will gather at the home of her son Lane, 8408 S. Hwy 200, Stanfield, NC 28163. Born December 30, 1928 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Flave Felton Smith and Annie Lee Jones Smith and was a homemaker. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church in Stanfield. Mrs. Furr enjoyed gardening and working in the greenhouse and she loved her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Junior Furr on September 4, 1995. She is survived by sons Alvin Furr and wife Kimberly of Lexington, Lane Furr and wife Phyllis of Stanfield, daughter Iris Furr Hathcock and husband Ricky of Stanfield, brother Loran Smith of Matthews, sister Athene Weaver of Frog Pond, 10 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
