Death
Funeral services for Oliver I. Furr, 85, of 138 Massey St., who died March 9 at his home, were held last Thursday afternoon at the Church of God in Fort Mill, with the Rev. W. E. Dowdy officiating and the Rev. Sherman Sprinkle assisting. Burial was in Unity Cemetery. Mr. Furr was retired from Wells Fargo. He was a former chief of police in Pineville, N. C., and a member of the Church of God. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Lois Irene Porter Furr; two sons, Oren W. Furr of Charlotte, Melvin L. Furr of Philadelphia, Pa; a daughter, Mrs. Harold C. Ware of Charlotte; a step-son, Eugene Maddox of Big Rapids, Mich.; seven brothers, Luther C. Furr of Fort Mill, Henry Furr of Pineville, N. C., Tillman Furr of Albemarle, N.C., Eugene Furr, Marion Furr, both of Michigan, Murray Furr, Winslow Furr, both of Florida.
