Death
CONCORD — Funeral services for Walter Lee Furr, 66, of Concord, Rt. 2 (Odell community) will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Odell Baptist Church. The Rev. W. H. Walton, the Rev. Robert Ledford and the Rev. Gordon Pope will officiate. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to the residence Tuesday at 3 p.m. and will lie in state at the church half an hour prior to the rites. Mr. Furr died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in a Raleigh hospital. He had been in declining health five years and seriously ill six months. He was a native of Cabarrus County and a retired farmer and textile employee. Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Beulah Barbee Furr; two sons, William Furr of the U.S. Air Force in Arizona and Walter Furr of the Air Force in France; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Demarcus of Kannapolis: one step-son, Walter Barbee of the home: three step-daughters, Mrs. Mike White and Mrs. Douglas Sellers of Concord, Mrs. Davis Furr of Harrisburg: 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.The Daily Independent, Kannapolis, North Carolina, February 7, 1966
