Birth
Death certificate shows birth date as 1 Jan 1861.Death
Death certificate shown death date as 14 Apr 1927.Mrs. W. M. Furr died Tuesday night, April 18th, at her home near Roberta. She had been ill for a long tine, but her condition had not been considered very serious until the last few weeks. Death was caused by dropsy. A gloom has seemed to fall upon the entire community by this cloud of sorrow which has taken this good woman from us. "To know her was to love her.” As a friend, and as a neighbor she was always kind, generous, noble, and true. She was a dear loving mother, and a kind wife, always ready to sympathize and console. She was never too tired or too busy to visit the sick and comfort the bereaved. Her life was an inspiration to all with whom she came in contact, and the influence for good, which she shed in her community will long be felt by all classes. We feel that she is not dead but gone before, and is now basking in the smiles of the Saviour, whom she served so faithfully. We will miss her, but we know that our loss is her gain, and may each one of the dear ones be guided by the light that she has placed in the window for your faltering steps. Mrs. Furr was before her marriage Miss Francis Little, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Little, of Stanly County. She lived most of her life in Cabarrus county, and for the last several years has made her home near Roberta. Mrs. Furr was sixty-five years of age, and was a true Christian character, and had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years. The funeral service was conducted at Roberta Methodist Protestant Church by her pastor, Rev. Mr. Stanley, and assisted by Rev. Mr. Short, pastor of the Roberta Church. Interment was made in the Roberta cemetery. Pall-bearers were grandsons, and the flower girls were her grand-daughters. Mrs. Furr is survived by her husband and five children. They are: Mrs. C. D. Blackwelder. Mrs. H. T. Barber, Dan V. Furr, all of Cabarrus county, Mrs. W. F. Garmon and Henry Furr, of Charlotte, Mrs. D. A. Motley, and George M. Furr, preceded her a few years ago. She is also survived by sixty-six grand-children, twelve great grand-children, and one sister, Mrs. H. T. McClarty of Stanly county.
