Death
Glenn Morris Furr, 40, of Rt. 1, Linwood, died Thursday at 6:45 p. m. at Wayland, N. Y. He was a truck driver for the Grubb Motor Line and suffered an attack while stopped at the scene of an accident. He was born in Cabarrus County, Jan. 19, 1921, the son of Walter Furr and the late Clora Morris Furr. He is survived by his father, who lives in Concord; his widow, Mrs. Ruby Freeman Furr of the home; four children, Richard, David, Janet and Glenda; two brothers, William and Walter, of the U. S. Air Force in Lake Charles, La.; one sister, Mrs. Jean Markus of Concord. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. Sunday at the Tyro Methodist Church with the Rev. James T. Hall and the Rev. Robert Ledford in charge. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The body will be taken from the Piedmont Funeral Home to the home Sunday morning. WAYLAND — A truck |driver who died Thursday night after he attempted to assist two persons hurt in an accident near here succumbed to a brain hemorrhage, it was ruled yesterday by Dr. Roy W. Robinson, Wayland health officer and a Steuben County coroner. The man was Glenn Morris Furr, 40, of Linwood, N.C. He was taken to Wayland Hospital and died at 7:25 p.m., shortly after arrival. The body was taken to the Baird Funeral Home in Wayland and last night was sent to his home in Linwood. Furr had halted his truck to aid John Kissinger, 36, of Charlotte, N.C., who suffered fractured ribs when his trailer-tractor truck left slippery Route 15 three miles south of here. His passenger, Robert Maguire, 40, of Kannapolis, N.C. suffered a fractured left leg and right shoulder and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Furr was driving just behind the other truck when it left the road. State Trooper W. T. Murphy of Wayland investigated.
